Our mission is to produce exceptional performing arts in Wolfville that highlight underrepresented perspectives in a collaborative and non-judgmental space. We bring people together through shared stories, creativity, and the belief that art can both entertain and inspire social connection.
Vision
We imagine a vibrant and inclusive performing arts community where everyone feels welcome to participate, create, and grow. The Wolfville Social Club seeks to build a space to connect emerging and established voices, where risks are encouraged, and where audiences and artists alike can see themselves reflected on stage. Our vision is to make Wolfville a place where performing arts thrive through community, open dialogue, and genuine fun.
Values
We take fun seriously.
Theatre is strongest when it grows from collaboration and respect. Our work celebrates difference, curiosity, and courage. We consider each other and the environment, striving to make choices that are eco-conscious and inclusive.
We work in a decentralized and cooperative way, recognizing that every role — creative, technical, and organizational — is vital. We embrace gender fluid casting while maintaining intention and purpose in our decisions. We are willing to take chances on people, offering space to learn, to experiment, and to succeed together. Failure can be fun.
We choose sex and body positivity. Accepting who and where we are is critical for creating work with confidence and care. We strive to consult with communities of interest when our stories intersect.
Our purpose, and our theatre, is rooted in community. it takes a village of skills - production, front of house, and performance skills to make anything happen. We recognize that ideas, solutions, and new projects can come from anyone and that everyone deserves to participate. We choose works that spark dialogue, reflection, and joy, with a focus on material that has a social purpose.
Community Standards
At the Wolfville Social Club, our foundation is built on respect, empathy, and care for people, ideas, and the planet.
We do not tolerate bigotry in any form. We consider our impact on the environment and for one another, actively practicing tolerance, kindness, and empathy for those "in the room," those that came before us, and those that may follow after us.
Our spaces are designed for learning and experimentation, where people can be seen and heard, and where we practice truly hearing others. We value safe and welcoming environments that invite creativity, risk-taking, and genuine expression.
We believe that growth happens best in a judgment-free atmosphere. Everyone deserves the opportunity to belong, contribute, and thrive. Together, we create the conditions for joy, connection, and discovery. And through it all, we remember: we take fun seriously.
